Why Options League?

As an experienced, albeit intermediate-level options trader, here's my unfiltered, shameless experience trading options — and why I created OptionsLeague.

Trading options is like skydiving with a broken parachute — a full-blown emotional freefall, with thrill, fear, and chaos hitting you all at once.
At its best (before realizing the chute is broken), it’s one of the most exhilarating experiences in the world.
Making your monthly salary in a day, or an hour, fuels the belief: "I have what it takes to make it."
There's nothing quite like it — and I love it.

But the truth is: after 12+ years of trading, I don't have what it takes to trade options for a living.
And that's okay.
Some do. Most don't.
It doesn't make me a bad trader, and it doesn't make me love options trading any less.
For me anyways, I simply lacked the emotional constraint required and necessary to be great — and I accept that.
Like my dream of becoming an NHL superstar that fell through — it doesn't mean I don't still love playing the game.

The Moment That Hooked Me

What really got me hooked on options— like a kid with his first love — was when I was 20 years old, sitting in my university bathroom stall and cashing out my first ever option trade for $3,400 USD.
It was a TSLA call I bought the day before for $150.
Tesla gapped up hard overnight.
By the time I got back to class, I was already plotting how to break it to my mom that I was dropping out of school to become a "pro options trader."

You can probably guess what happened next.

Winning big early was the worst thing that could've happened to me, the same beginner's luck that had me walking out of my first casino trip with a wad of cash.
With my history of gambling and addictive behaviors, that first hit flooded me with emotions faster than I could market-buy my next play, and that would haunt my trading journey:
Greed. Impatience. Overconfidence. FOMO. Emotions that great traders know how to fend off, I did not, and still struggle to keep them at bay.

It wasn't about knowledge — I actually had a knack for spotting big plays.
The real battle was emotions storming my fort, targeting my once all-mighty gains.
And I didn't have the army to withstand the siege.

After every win, I'd crave another.
After every loss, I'd double down.
When there was nothing to trade, I'd trade anyway — out of boredom, fear of missing out, or the sheer addiction to action.

I always thought:
"If only there was a way to scratch the itch, get my fix, when my emotions dictated I had no business trading or when a trade just wasn't there"
